INTERIM MANAGEMENT

• M&A IT Due Diligence
• IT Infrastructure Assessment

M&A IT Due Diligence.  For a private equity company’s acquisition of medium size company in the retail sector. The exercise included business processes, IT strategy, plans, budgets, IT infrastructure and IT organisation. A particular aspect of the IT review was to ascertain the capability, robustness and scalability of the current IT systems and infrastructure to cope with planned growth. The review also included the project plan assessment of a new distribution, warehousing and stock control system

M&A IT Due Diligence.  For a private equity institution, part of the Bank of Scotland, in the acquisition of a medium size company in the manufacturing sector. The exercise included business processes, IT strategy, plans, budgets, IT infrastructure and IT organisation.

IT Infrastructure Assessment. For a construction engineering company carried out a high level assessment of ICT Suppliers in South Africa for the hosting of the client’s local IT infrastructure. As part of the same assignment carried out a high level assessment of the client’s UK IT support service organisation to identify risks and improvement areas.

Typical interim management assignments undertaken include:

Some examples:

Interim CIO. Brought in to rescue a failing ERP project based on IFS technology; carried out a project review and developed a turnaround strategy which was successful implemented in 15 months in 22 locations. Developed a group IT strategy aligned with the business strategy integrating previous acquisitions and provided leadership to a team of 70 staff. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, responsible for running the business, he assisted in taking the company to a successful change of ownership by private equity.

Interim CIO. Managed the IT function of a world leader in the technology sector at the time of transition and change of ownership. Helped the new owners with the systems, people and process integration of their new acquisition. Led integration activities with parent group and achieved results on a very challenging schedule.

Interim IT Director. Managed the IT function of world leader in the recruitment sector. Helped them to achieve systems and infrastructure integration with a new acquisition. Put a new structure in place, directed and managed 30 staff.

Project Manager. Implementation of new systems for a large international chemical group. The new software packages covered manufacturing, commercial and financial applications. The full assignment was conducted in Spanish.

Change Manager. Led major change initiative and business process re-design in the steel industry. Integrated restructuring strategy with union negotiations as part of a wider transformation programme.
