Alan is an experienced, senior corporate Executive and Consultant with a successful track record in the public and private sectors and competent stewardship of high-value budgets and programmes. His wide-ranging capabilities take in management, strategy formulation and objective setting, organisational performance, development and change and all aspects of governance. Underpinning these skills is a full career in the military and the IT sector where he has risen to eminence recognised by Fellowships and Chartered qualifications. He currently serves as a Vice President of the British Computer Society with a particular interest in the application of IT to business, and everyday issues with an accent on professionalism. He prefers to be regarded as a businessman first and an IT practitioner second, since it is his belief that information technology in its many forms is the foundation of successful enterprise but that over emphasis on technology can cloud business judgement. He has particular strengths in relationship management within and between organisations and service providers and is at ease dealing with people at all levels in an organisation from Chief Executive to junior staff. He knows from experience that it is people who bring business success yet who can undermine even the best contract or strategy if they are not managed correctly.
